If Someone Has very Obviously Had Cosmetic Surgery, Should You Acknowledge It or Not? It’s a tough one, I grant you, Geoffrey. After all, the person has submitted themselves to an extraordinary amount of pain and cost. Surely, you might think, the polite thing would be to acknowledge it? You might think that, but you would be wrong. The polite thing is to pretend the person has always looked like this. Vogue has a corker of an example of that this month in its interview with Renée Zellweger. Now, Zellweger looks a little different these days. How to deal with this silicone elephant in the room? Easy: “Let’s get it out of the way: Renée Zellweger looks perfectly normal to me,” the interview begins. Um, OK! “And if she has done something to her face (and does it really matter?), then hats off to her, she looks terrific.” How’s that for some fancy footwork? She doesn’t look like she’s had anything done, but if she has, GOOD FOR HER. Here’s my tuppence on the matter: no one should be judged, negatively or positively, for doing whatever they want to their body. It is this judgment that makes people who have had the work feel like they have to deny the obvious. The best thing for everyone is if the person who has had the work laughs at the critics and gossips and makes like Dolly Parton who famously said: “If I have one more facelift, I’ll have a beard.” Now I’m not saying Zellweger has had work or not, but I do think all of our lives would be marvellously improved if she started cracking jokes about pubic facial hair in Vogue.

  • A groundbreaking trial to see if it is possible to regenerate the brains of dead people, has won approval from health watchdogs. A biotech company in the US has been granted ethical permission to recruit 20 patients who have been declared clinically dead from a traumatic brain injury, to test whether parts of their central nervous system can be brought back to life. Scientists will use a combination of therapies, which include injecting the brain with stem cells and a cocktail of peptides, as well as deploying lasers and nerve stimulation techniques which have been shown to bring patients out of comas. The trial participants will have been certified dead and only kept alive through life support. They will be monitored for several months using brain imaging equipment to look for signs of regeneration, particularly in the upper spinal cord - the lowest region of the brain stem which controls independent breathing and heartbeat. The team believes that the brain stem cells may be able to erase their history and re-start life again, based on their surrounding tissue – a process seen in the animal kingdom in creatures like salamanders who can regrow entire limbs. Dr Ira Pastor, the CEO of Bioquark Inc. said: “This represents the first trial of its kind and another step towards the eventual reversal of death in our lifetime.“Bioquark”公司执行总裁艾拉·帕斯特士说:“这是人类首次进行此类实验,是我们在有生之年逆转死亡的又一次尝试。;We just received approval for our first 20 subjects and we hope to start recruiting patients immediately from this first site – we are working with the hospital now to identify families where there may be a religious or medical barrier to organ donation.“我们刚得到批准,可以先对20位受试者进行试验,我们希望能立刻开始招募病人,就从这里的第一个试验地点开始着手——我们现在正与院方携手,看看哪些家庭可能由于宗教或医疗限制不能捐献器官。;To undertake such a complex initiative, we are combining biologic regenerative medicine tools with other existing medical devices typically used for stimulation of the central nervous system, in patients with other severe disorders of consciousness.“为了开展如此复杂的试验,我们将运用生物再生医学方法,并结合其它通常用于刺激中枢神经系统的医疗手段,治疗患有其它严重意识障碍的病人。;We hope to see results within the first two to three months.;“我们希望在两三个月内看到结果。”The ReAnima Project has just received approval in India, and the team plans to start recruiting patients immediately. The first stage, named #39;First In Human Neuro-Regeneration amp; Start by standing on the left leg, and then reach your right leg back keeping it hovering off the ground. Then bring your right leg forward, bring your knee up, and hop. Once you have it, speed it up. Do this for 50 seconds, and then switch legs. Squat jumps and squat pulse: Get into a squat position, slightly bending the knees. After the second pulse, jump and turn to the other side, landing in a squat position, and do two squat pulses. Get as low as you can on that pulse and then get nice and explosive as you jump up. Plank walks and shoulder tap: Start in a forearm plank position. Your hips are in line with your shoulders. Come up to a top plank, and then do a shoulder tap on each side. Return back down to a forearm plank. Repeat this motion. Make sure that you’re alternating the arm you use to get into a top plank and to get back down into a forearm plank so that you’re working both sides of the body.
  • People d changes – be they big or small – but changes are not as horrible as many believe. Regardless of what happened in your life, even the most drastic change can turn your life upside down. Change the quality of life改变生活质量Your quality of life can either drop or increase – it all depends on you. While some people let depression rule their lives, others fight with it. Statistics show many people ruined their lives by getting into bad habits like smoking, drinking, antidepressants and drugs. They use bad habits to calm their pains, but all they do is slowly destroying their lives. Remember we have only one life? Take advantage of a drastic change to improve your quality of life. I found a better job that has improved my finances and reduced my stress level. If I was not fired, I would not solve my financial problems. It was all for the best. Declutter your life and reduce stress调整你的生活以及减轻压力We have too many people and things that drain our energy, destroy our dreams, affect every facet of our lives and make us miserable. A drastic change can help you declutter your life and get rid of anything and anyone that bring stress and misery into your life.It is a hard process and sometimes it seems impossible to remove those you have known for ages from your life for good. Drastic changes leave you no choice. If you had to move to another country (or continent) that might be a sign that you need new people in your life. If he broke up with you right before your big day, it might be better for you. Embrace any change in your life and look on the brightest side in any complicated situation. A positive attitude is one the best cures here. It is a lot easier to overcome a drastic change when you believe in a positive outcome. Just as George Bernard Shaw stated, “Progress is impossible without change, and those who cannot change their minds cannot change anything.”
