President Trump: Thank you. Thank you very much. What an honor. They just gave me this beautiful jacket. They said, here, Mr. President, please take this home. I said, let me wear it. And then they gave me the beautiful hat, and I said, you know, maybe Ill do that. We have a great ;Make America Great Again; hat, but I said, this is a special day, were wearing this. Right? I have no idea how it looks, but I think it looks good. Its a great-looking hat – just like this is a great-looking ship. Thank you. Im privileged to stand here today with the incredible men and women of the ed States Navy. American sailors are the best warfighting sailors anywhere in the world. And its not even close. And, Susan, I am so glad you could be with us. I know how hard you work – 17 visits. And she wanted things done right, I will tell you. They told me she wanted this one done right, in honor of both of her parents, who were great, great people. And we wanted to introduce this beautiful vessel to the American people. And I wanted to be here, I wanted to be with you. So, Susan, and to your family – unbelievable job. Unbelievable. The soon-to-be commissioned Gerald R. Ford USS – what a place. It really feels like a place. You stand on that deck, and you feel like youre standing on a very big piece of land. But this is better than land. It will not only be a great symbol of American strength, but a great legacy for your father, and our former President, Gerald Ford. President Ford was a Navy man. By the way, he was also a great athlete, for those of you that didnt know. He saw action in the South Pacific during World War II. He served this country with honor – in the military, in Congress, and in the White House. The proud dignity of this ship is a fitting tribute to Gerald Ford, the man and the President. Congratulations to all of the men and women who helped build it. This is American craftsmanship at its biggest, at its best, at its finest. American workers are the greatest anywhere in the world. This warship, and all who serve on it, should be a source of shared pride for our nation. We are joined today – – better believe it, right? Better believe it. Better believe it. And, by the way, were going to soon have more coming. Well have more coming. We are joined today by General Mattis, now Secretary Mattis – – where is he? – who will be charged with overseeing this great rebuilding of our military might. We will give the men and women of Americas armed services the resources you need to keep us safe. We will have the finest equipment in the world – planes, ships and everything else. We are going to have, very soon, the finest equipment in the world. We will give our military the tools you need to prevent war and, if required, to fight war and only do one thing – you know what that is? Win! Win! Were going to start winning again. Admiral John Richardson, Chief of Naval Operations, is with us today as well – great gentleman. Admiral, were going to ensure our Navy has the resources, personnel training and equipment – the kind of equipment that you need. So, congratulations, Admiral. And a lot more is coming. Let me congratulate Captain Richard McCormack, Commanding Officer of the Gerald R. Ford. This ship will make an extraordinary addition to the fleet like no other – like no other. Anywhere in the world theres nothing like this. It represents the future of naval aviation. I have no greater privilege than to serve as your Commander-in-Chief and the Commander-in-Chief of the men and women of the ed States military. Great people. Great, great people. I salute you, and I salute our sailors. I will always support you and your mission. I will never, ever let you down. And I also have to recognize Mike Petters, President and CEO of Huntington Ingalls Industries along with Matt Mulherin, President of Newport News Shipbuilding. They wont let you down, either. Theyre not going to let you down, either. To those who serve our nation in uniform and to those who build the instruments of our defense, I thank you on behalf of our nation. Audience Member: U-S-A! President Trump:I agree, I agree. Our carriers are the centerpiece of American military might overseas. We are standing today on 4.5 acres of combat power and sovereign U.S. territory, the likes of which there is nothing to compete. There is no competition to this ship. It is a monument to American might that will provide the strength necessary to ensure peace. This ship will carry 4,500 personnel and 70 aircraft, and will be a vital component of our defense. This carrier and the new ships in the Ford class will expand the ability of our nation to carry out vital missions on the oceans to project American power in distant lands. Hopefully, its power we dont have to use, but if we do, theyre in big, big trouble. This great aircraft carrier provides essential capabilities to keep us safe from terrorism and take the fight to the enemy for many years in the future. The great Admiral Nimitz, who commanded the U.S. Pacific fleet through the Second World War, once said, ;It is the function of the Navy to carry the war to the enemy so that well not be fought on U.S. soil.; True. And it was under Admiral Nimitzs command 75 years ago this June that the Navy did just that at the Battle of Midway. Youve all known about the Battle of Midway, where the sailors of the U.S. Navy fought with the bravery that will be remembered throughout the ages. Storied bravery throughout the ages. The backbone of the American fleet at Midway was three beautiful aircraft carriers: the Yorktown, the Enterprise and the Hornet. All three were built with American hands right here at the Newport News Shipyard. At Midway, America was greatly outnumbered by, I mean, a lot –– and its fleet badly damaged. But the heroic deeds changed the course of history. Many brave Americans died that day, and, through their sacrifice, they turned the tide of the Pacific War. It was a tough tide, it was a big tide, it was a vicious tide, and they turned it. Countless other Americans in that war, some of them – parents and grandparents to people in this room today, came home thanks to their very heroic deeds. The sailors at Midway are part of a long line of American heroes, an unbroken chain of patriots from each generation to the next, who rose to defend our flag and our freedom. That legacy continues today as American warriors protect our people from the threat of terrorism. On Tuesday, in my address to a joint session of Congress, I asked Congress to eliminate the defense sequester and to support my request for a great rebuilding of the ed States military and the ed States Navy. After years of endless budget cuts that have impaired our defenses, I am calling for one of the largest defense-spending increases in history. And by eliminating the sequester and the uncertainty it creates, we will make it easier for the Navy to plan for the future and thus to control costs and get the best deals for the taxpayer, which, of course, is very important, right? Got to get a good deal. If we dont make a good deal, were not doing our job. The same boat for less money. The same ship for less money. The same airplanes for less money. Thats what were doing. Thats what were doing. Means were going to get more of them, and we can use them. Our military requires sustained, stable funding to meet the growing needs placed on our defense. Right now, our aging frontline strike and strike-fighters – the whole aircraft; many, many aircraft – are often more likely to be downed for maintenance than they are to be up in the sky. Our Navy is now the smallest its been since, believe it or not, World War I. Dont worry, its going to soon be the largest its been. Dont worry. Think of that. Think of that. In these troubled times, our Navy is the smallest its been since World War I. Thats a long time ago. In fact, I just spoke with Navy and industry leaders and have discussed my plans to undertake a major expansion of our entire Navy fleet, including having the 12-carrier Navy we need. We also need more aircraft, modernized capabilities, and greater force levels. Additionally, we must vastly improve our cyber capabilities. This great rebuilding effort will create many jobs in Virginia, and all across America, and it will also spur new technology and new innovation. America has always been the country that boldly leads the world into the future, and my budget will ensure we do so and continue to do exactly that. American ships will sail the seas. American planes will soar the skies. American workers will build our fleets. And Americas military will ensure that even though the darkest nights and throughout, a bright and glowing sun will always shine on our nation and on our people. Our Navy is great. Our Navy is great. Our people are great. Great. Our Republic will meet any challenge, defeat any danger, face any threat, and always seek true and lasting peace. May God bless our military. May God bless our Navy. May God bless the wonderful Gerald Ford family. And may God continue to bless the ed States of America. Thank you very much.201703/500512「美国习惯用语」第五讲in hot water to throw cold water on something英语里有好些习惯用语都和“水”,就是water这个字有关系。有的用:hot water;还有的用:cold water or deep water。 举个例子来说吧: 例句-1:"Joe is really in hot water now -- his girlfriend just found out he's seeing another woman." 我们再举一个例子: 例句-2:"That movie actor tried to cheat on his income tax, but he got caught and now he's in hot water with the government." 今天要讲的另一个和water有关的习惯用语是: to throw cold water on something To throw cold water on something和中文里说的“泼冷水”意思完全一样。下面的例子是一个人在说他办公室里发生的事: 例句-3:"Everybody else in the office thought my idea was great, but the boss threw cold water on it." 这是一个儿子在说他的爸爸: 例句-4:"I had planned on going to medical school but my dad threw cold water on this idea the other day when he told me he wasn't sure he had the money to pay my tuition for so long." 第一个是 in hot water;另一个是 to throw cold water on something。 In hot water是指面临严重困难;to throw cold water on something意思就是泼冷水。 /200601/2960

Hello, Im Buddy Carter, and I represent the first district of Georgia. This week, I held seven town-hall meetings with people from all over our district. We talked about a lot of different issues. But the one thing I heard over and over again was this: People are frustrated. Theyre working as hard as ever to pay the bills and put food on the table. But theyre just not getting anywhere. Their problems are growing. But their paychecks arent. And at this point, theyve come to see Washington as the place where bad ideas go to take root and where good ideas go to die. Thats why House Republicans are taking action. Earlier this year, we decided we had to go from being an opposition party to a proposition party. If we didnt like the direction the country was going in, then it was up to us to offer an alternative. Well, now, we have offered that alternative. And were calling it a Better Way. Its our six-part plan to get the country back on track. In it, we tackle some of the biggest issues of the day: poverty, national security, the economy, the Constitution, health care, and tax reform. What I like best about our plan is that it isnt some top-down, Washington-imposed mandate. Instead, we took a bottom-up, organic approach. This is a plan we developed with input we got from all of our members and our constituents over many months. We put out the call for the best thinking out there, and these are the ideas that rose to the occasion. I want to tell you about one issue in particular: health care. Ive been a pharmacist for many years now. In fact, Im speaking to you from a hospital in my district. So this issue is especially important to me. And the health care law we have right now is a mess. It is destroying the health care system I worked in for more than 30 years – the best health care system in the world. This law makes some people pay less by making other people pay more. It tries to give more choices to some people by taking them away from others. And lost in the constant back-and-forth between insurers and Washington bureaucrats is the most important person: the patient. So our plan would repeal and replace Obamacare. We would clear out all the red tape and mandates that are taking away your choices, and let you pick a plan that works for you. Our plan would also help accelerate the development of life-saving devices and therapies. For instance, this week, I had the pleasure of visiting the Anderson Cancer Institute at Memorial University Medical Center in Savannah, Georgia. These doctors are developing the very treatments we need to beat cancer and to save lives. And now what we need to do is to tear down barriers so that the innovative research being done at places like Anderson can go to the people who need it. These are the kind of ideas we need to get America back on track. And this is how we can make real change in Washington: by listening to the people who sent us there. If you want to learn more about our plan, go to our website: better.gop. Thank you very much.201608/460766

To bail out Nose dive To bail out。 比如说,一个人在谈到他的朋友的时候说: 例句-1: "Smith was lucky enough to bail out and quit the company just before it went bankrupt." 下面一个例子是说怎么样帮助别人渡过经济难关: 例句-2: "After his restaurant failed, Bill couln't pay back the money he had borrowed from the bank. He was afraid the bank would take the house he'd put up as security. But his dad bailed him out and paid the loan off for him." 例如,一家报纸报导说: 例句-3: "Today the stock market took a nosedive and dropped 25 points." 美国报纸可能会这样报导有关好莱坞电影明星的情况: 例句-4: "Everyboday thought this young actor would have a brilliant future after he starred in two pictures that made a lot of money. Then he appeared in three films that nobody want to see, and his career took a nose dive -- no producer wants him any more." /200601/2974

So to test it, we did the following experiment. First, we took the story and played it backwards. And that preserved many of the original auditory features, but removed the meaning. And it sounds something like that. And we flashed colors in the two brains to indicate brain areas that respond very similarly across people. And as you can see, this incoming sound induced entrainment or alignment in all of the brains in auditory cortices that process the sounds,如你所见,进入耳朵的声音诱使所有受测者大脑内处理声音的听觉皮层全都同步了but it didnt sp deeper into the brain. Now we can take these sounds and build words out of it. So if we take Jim OGrady and scramble the words, well get a list of words. An animal...assorted facts...and right on...pie man...potentially...my stories动物... And you can see that these words start to induce alignment in early language areas, but not more than that. Now we can take the words and start to build sentences out of them. And they recommend against crossing that line. He says: ;Dear Jim, Good story. Nice details. Didnt she only know about him through me?;他说:“亲爱的吉姆,好故事。很详细。你不知道她是经由我才认识他的吗?”Now you can see that the responses in all the language areas that process the incoming language become aligned or similar across all listeners. However, only when we use the full, engaging, coherent story do the responses sp deeper into the brain into higher-order areas,然而,只有当我们使用完整、引人入胜、连贯的故事时,反应才会进入大脑的深层区域,which include the frontal cortex and the parietal cortex, and make all of them respond very similarly. 201609/46909819. 2006 FIFA World Cup Openning Ceremony Address19. Welcome to the 2006 FIFA World Cup Germany.2006德国世界杯欢迎你。Seventeen years after the fall of the Berlin wall, a reunified Germany will throw open its doors to the world. Hi, everybody. This weekend, well dedicate the newest American icon on our National Mall – the National Museum of African American History and Culture. Its a beautiful building, five stories high and some 70 feet below the ground, situated just across the street from the Washington Monument. And this museum tells a story of America that hasnt always taken a front seat in our national narrative. As a people, weve rightfully passed on the tales of the giants who built this country. But too often, willful or not, weve chosen to gloss over or ignore entirely the experience of millions upon millions of others. But this museum chooses to tell a fuller story. It doesnt gauze up some bygone era or avoid uncomfortable truths. Rather, it embraces the patriotic recognition that America is a constant work in progress; that each successive generation can look upon our imperfections and decide that it is within our collective power to align this nation with the high ideals of our founding. Thats what youll see inside. Youll see it in the shackles of an enslaved child and in the hope of Harriet Tubmans gospel hymnal. Youll see it in the tragedy of Emmett Tills coffin, and in the resilience of a lunch counter stool, and in the triumph of a Tuskegee Airplane. Youll see it in the shadow of a prison guard tower, and in the defiance of Jesse Owens cleats, and in the American pride of Colin Powells uniform. All of that isnt simply the African-American story; its part of the American story. And so it is entirely fitting that we tell this story on our National Mall, the same place we tell the stories of Washington and Jefferson and our independence; the story of Lincoln who saved our union and the GIs who defended it; the story of King who summoned us all toward the mountaintop. Thats what well celebrate not just this weekend, but in the years and generations ahead – a fuller account of our glorious American story. Its a chance to reflect on our past and set a course for the future. Because here in this country, all of us, no matter what our station in life, have the chance to pick up the pen, and write our own chapter for our time. Thanks, everybody, and have a great weekend.201610/469738网络社交英语口语 51:你害我好紧张SCENE① F 柔丝家 Rose: You're making me 1) nervous! Sue: You need to 2) relax! Rose: But how? Good morning, everyone. Thank you for coming out today. Yesterday, as you all know, was the launch of our 2017 budget, and Id like to say a few words about that before I take your questions. Weve delivered a budget that takes a realistic look at the challenges ahead. It reflects not only the financial realities but also the personal anxieties that so many Canadians are feeling, especially those in the middle class and those working hard to join it. I see a few of you smiling back there. Youve heard me refer to the middle class before, perhaps. Maybe you think, as some of our critics have said, that this is just politicking, just a slogan. And I want to tell you today, its not just a slogan. These are real people were talking about. Millions of Canadians who work hard, who struggle, who worry about their children and their parents and their livelihoods and who frankly need a break. You might recall that I spent much of January on the road, meeting with Canadians in their communities. And one thing I heard over and over is that Canadians are worried about their future, their job opportunities, being able to pay their bills at the end of every month – expenses are increasing but their salaries are not. In every community I visited, I met parents who worry about the kinds of opportunities their kids have or will not have when they graduate from school. Thats what working Canadians – middle-class Canadians – are focused on and thats what weve focused on in this budget. To suggest that its just politics does our fellow citizens a disservice. To dismiss their legitimate worries as mere feelings, even more so. You cant spend any amount of time with Canadians, listen to them, actually hear them, and walk away thinking those feelings dont matter. They matter a lot to me, and to our government. The level of confidence that Canadians have in their economic future is important, especially when it comes to getting a new job, making an offer on a house or buying a new car. As we celebrate our successes, we must also recognize that there are still many Canadians who are concerned about losing ground rather than getting ahead. Budget 2017 is focused on people, what they need to feel confident about their future. It gives Canadians the tools they need to build a better life for themselves, for their children and for their grandchildren. That starts with making sure every Canadian can get the training they need to get a good, well-paying job. Thats why Budget 2017 includes things like better support for lifelong learning. If youre unemployed or under-employed, this budget will give you better access to the training and financial support that can help you keep… find and keep a good job, including giving you the chance to go back to school without the fear of losing the EI benefits you need to put food on the table. If you currently have a job, but you want to go back to school part-time to upgrade your skills or get a new certification, this budget makes it easier for you to access Canadas Student Grants and Canadas Student Loans. If youre a student with a family to support, this budget makes it more affordable for you to improve your qualifications. As many as 13,000 students with dependent children will qualify for student grants under Budget 2017. And if youre a working adult who wants to get a new degree, diploma, or certificate like the ones offered here at George Brown, theres help for you, too. Were introducing a pilot project to look at new ways to make sure that Canadas Student Loans and Grants are more accessible so that your education can become more affordable. Budget 2017 is, above all else, an investment in Canadians, an investment in people. Canada is home to some of the smartest, hardworking and most ambitious people in the world. With this budget, we are helping Canadians realize their dreams of a brighter, more secure future, and well all be better-off for it.201704/504889
